Setting Orthodontic Time Frame in Open Dental

When we start orthodontic treatment on a patient – we need to tell the system how long the proposed treatment will take. This helps the insurance team when creating the initial claim to make sure that they are correctly submitting to the insurance and correctly getting paid. Below are the steps to take to enter the ortho time frame in Open Dental.

1. Double-click on the appointment to complete.

2. Click the dropdown for ‘Status’

3. Click “Completed”

4. Click “Save”

5. Click ‘Account’

6. Click ‘Auto Ortho’ (The start date is auto filled out when the ortho code is posted to the account.)

7. Click here to enter the correct number of months for the treatment plan.

8. Click “Override”
