Hygiene Appointment Blocks

To assure that we have time in our schedule to serve all of our patients, we need to block out time to plan for the new patients coming into our office and our periodontal patients that need to be seen ASAP! Below is the checklist of what should be blocked out for each hygienist in your office:

• New Patient Blocks – 90 minutes – 2/3 per week
• Perio Mx – 60 minutes – 1 per day
• Gingival Therapy – 60 minutes – 2 per week
• NSPT – 90 minutes – 1/2 per week

With this method we can assure that 30% of each hygienists day is with periodontally involved patients. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), approximately 47.2% of adults in the United States have periodontal disease and we want to make sure that we have the time available in our schedule to help the patients that are ready to treat their condition.
