Adding New Patient Referral Sources to Open Dental

Below are the steps to add a referral source into Open Dental for each patient. You can choose an existing referral source already in our system or add in a new referral source!

Why this matters:
 Referral sources entered in Open Dental are how we run reports and know what’s working.

Filling out the pink sheet and scanning it does not log the data — please make sure you’re doing both:
 • Filling out the pink sheet
 • Entering the referral source in Open Dental
Important: Please remember to ask follow-up questions with new patients.
 Example:
 “How did you hear about us?” → “Internet”
 “Awesome — was that our website, Google, or social media?”
