Passive-Fit Printed Denture

Records Standard for a Passive-Fit Printed Denture

Goal: the lab predictably delivers a finished printed denture that seats just passively over the abutments/housings, so the assistant does minimal (ideally zero) reaming (if any)and simply picks up the housings chairside. Currently the docs and assistants are “over reaming” to allow for a passive fit and this is leading to a weaker denture

If the below instructions are followed correctly and the records are accurate, the lab should be able to deliver a finished denture that sits passively over the housings on the zest locators and all thats needed is a chair side housing pickup

Records the lab needs to make this happen:

  1. Pick up impressions of the housings in the denture with PVS
  2. Intra oral scan of the zest scan bodies

Chairside sequence:

1. Pick up housings intraorally with polyvinyl material.
2. Remove denture from the mouth.
3. Remove housings from the impression.
4. Chairside 360 degree scan of the denture — confirm the scan fully captures the entire intaglio, cameo & flange surfaces as well as VDO. .
5. Edentulous scan of the arch with scan bodies.
